The 1303S Beetle

First released to the public in August 1972. It is fitted with the 1600cc twin port engine developing some 50hp in standard format. Distinguishing features of this model was the curved front windscreen and the 'Elephants Foot' tail lights. New owners used to show off by applying the brakes whilst stationery at traffic lights, so that owners of older models would notice it was one of the new Beetles. How times have changed.

The interior has a few features like a modern looking contoured dashboard, which was padded to meet ever more stringent safety requirements.

Production ceased on the 1303 models in July 1975, though from Aug 1974 the 1303S was only available on special order in the UK.
