from Pueblo, Mexico in 1986. At the time it was common for people to go
on holiday to Mexico and bring back a Beetle, as was the case
with Jose. Later agents carried out this work such as BeetlesUK.
Official
imports of VW Beetle saloons into the UK had ceased in 1978, with the
last of the German/Belgian manufacture.
Germany
was to contiue importing officially from Mexico until 20th August 1985, just as the 50th year
of production had been reached and over 20 million produced.
